IDS Kit A comprises the following four core pieces of equipment

IDS Hardware - Kit A

	Vehicle Communication Module (VCM) The VCM enables the system to communicate with all modules on the vehicle via the vehicle diagnostic connector.
	Vehicle Measurement Module (VMM) The VMM provides instrumentation tool capability, which will be incorporated into and used by the IDS software. Includes voltage, current, resistance and pressure measurement, as well as engine analyser, oscilloscope and signal generator.
	Portable Test Unit (PTU) The PTU has a modified tough magnesium alloy ruggedised casing that meets stringent vibration, shock, water ingress and dust resistant specifications.
	Docking Station & Lockable Cabinet The lockable storage cabinet provides overnight secure storage for the PTU, VCM and DVD reader. The docking station is mounted inside the cabinet and provides a base for overnight charging and LAN connection to the Ford CDS system.

Note:

From January 1st 2009 Ford will only be charging an IDS site Licence fee – 1 Licence fee per dealership regardless of how many IDS kits are owned on site.
