Snap-On Equipment Solutions is pleased to announce the introduction of the IDS Kit D providing the dealer with a lower cost solution, which also meets the minimum dealer standard of an IDS Kit A. Now you have the choice – IDS Kit A or IDS Kit D.

Kit D has been specifically designed to offer comparable diagnostic functionality to the IDS Kit A but at a fraction of the original Kit A price. It provides increased diagnostic and ETIS capacity for the workshop whilst offering outstanding value for money.

Kit D combines a high specification, semi-rugged, standard laptop, with a large, bright 15.4 inch LCD screen, a Vehicle Communication Module (VCM) and a Vehicle Measurement Module (VMM) as a fully supported package. Kit D is one of only four approved packages to be supported by the Ford IDS technical hotline and offers added peace of mind as it is backed by a comprehensive 2 year warranty scheme, similar to IDS Kit A, B and C.

IDS Hardware - Kit D

Vehicle Communication Module (VCM)
The VCM enables the system to communicate with all modules on the vehicle via the vehicle diagnostic connector.

• 16-Pin 2.4 m DLC Cable
• IDS 4m PC Ethernet-USB Host Cable
• IDS 7m PC Ethernet-USB Host Cable

 
Portable Test Unit (PTU)
The PTU is semi-rugged Panasonic CF-52 laptop. It includes a bright 15.4” display, integrated DVD/CDROM as well as WiFi wireless connectivity.

 
Vehicle Measurement Module (VMM)
The VMM provides instrumentation tool capability, which will be incorporated into and used by the IDS software. Includes voltage, current, resistance and pressure measurement, as well as engine analyser, oscilloscope and signal generator.

Kit D FAQ:

Q. Do you offer discounts for multiple orders?
A. Yes, freight discounts may be available for multiple orders shipping to the same address.

Q. Is the purchasing model the same as IDS kit A/B?
A. It is a similar process. However, if you choose to pay by pre-payment then the order will not be processed until full payment is received by Equipment Solutions.

Q. How long will it take for my order to arrive?
A. Delivery is within 28 days of order acknowledgement. However, Equipment Solutions is working to improve the overall delivery performance to manage the expected demand.

Q. Do I have to buy an IDS licence for kit D?
A. No. From January 1st 2009 Ford will only be charging an IDS site Licence fee – 1 Licence fee per dealership regardless of how many IDS kits are owned on site.
